About This Coffee
Named Mutu Batak “Mutu” meaning quality, and “Batak” honouring the local people - this coffee truly lives up to its name. Sourced from a select group of producers in the Lingtong region, on the southern shores of Lake Toba, it thrives in rich volcanic soils at the highest coffee growing altitudes in Sumatra.
Farmers carefully handpick and process the coffee using the traditional Sumatran wet-hulled method, a technique where the parchment is removed while the beans are still damp, helping to bring out the coffee’s unique character. The result is a coffee perfect for a pour over but will also work great in aeropress, drip or French press. We’d recommend it without milk to get the full hit of a chocolatey cup full of red cherry and warm spices.
