AeroPress

The AeroPress is a fantastic option whether you’re at home or out in the mountains. It’s easy to use, versatile and allows you to experiment with your brew to create different profiles fro your coffee. This is a guide for the “inverted” method.

Coffee Dose

18g

Grind Size

Medium-fine

Brew Time

3:00

Water

280ml at 200°F/93°C

What you'll need

  • AeroPress & Filter Paper
  • Some Good Coffee
  • Grinder (or pre-ground coffee)
  • Electric Scales & Timer
  • Kettle
  • Something to brew into
Step 1

Prepare

  1. Turn your kettle on - if possible, heat to 200°F/93°C. If not, boil and let it rest for about 30 seconds.
  2. Place a paper filter in the filter cap and rinse thoroughly with hot water to remove any papery taste. Discard rinse water.
  3. Assemble your AeroPress in the inverted position (upside down with plunger on the bottom) and set it on your scales.
  4. Add 18g of coffee (medium-fine grind, similar to table salt).
Step 2

Pour

  1. Bloom: Tare your scales, start your timer and pour 36g of water over the grounds. Stir gently to wet all the coffee, and let it bloom for 30 seconds to release trapped gases.
  2. Main Pour: Add the remaining water up to 280g total, then give a gentle stir.
  3. Steep: Attach the rinsed filter cap securely and let the coffee steep for 2 minutes (the longer you leave it, the stronger it will be).
  4. Flip and Press: Carefully flip the AeroPress onto your mug or server (you can place the mug over the cap before flipping). Press slowly for 20–30 seconds until you hear a light hiss - that’s your cue to stop.
Step 3

Enjoy!

Remove the AeroPress, pop out the coffee puck, and rinse for next time. Enjoy your brew!
